Not climbing that, I'll just go for a swim

  1. I tried to climb a "Haystack". I circled around two of them looking for a appealing place to start my ascent. The most likely spot had pitons hammered in for rappellers. I didn't have any rope, and after my last experience on red rocks I decided to go swimming instead of climbing. It was very pleasant and although the pic doesn't really reveal (water shot) there are plenty of fish in the lake. My workplace is still good, I haven't really gotten into a routine yet, I work two split shift days followed by three closing days. I haven't found any hiking buddies yet, drinking and smoking are the popular activities here in Halls Crossing, the same as in Bullfrog.

I went a to a birthday party last night. Its the second time I have attended a "party" here…the drinking is becoming boring, I wandered off soon after I found out there was no cake. I'm eating good now, and am seeing some gains from my workout routine. I'm running on my crosstrain days, in teva sandals. Tevas are not common here, and I'm getting a lot of comments about running in sandals. It hasn't been a problem, I've even tried running across the desert scrub. There are scattered cactus, and the red sand can get packed under my toes, but I like the variation offered by running thru desert. Lol, but the last time I ran through the desert a ranger came out after me calling out, "Sir, Sir, are you OK? Is everything alright?" She must have thought it was an emergency (or that I was crazy?) when she saw me take off running across the desert.
